Frequently Asked Questions

How do we get started?

Contact me via this website, by phone, or by email to schedule a free consultation. During the consultation, we will have up to 20 minutes for you to tell me a bit about yourself and what your reasons are for seeking therapy. Additionally, we will take some time to discuss fees, policies, and any questions you may have. If, at the end of our consultation, we determine that it makes sense to start therapy, we will get you scheduled for your first session.

In the first few sessions of therapy, in addition to working on what you bring to therapy, we will also set aside time to process how the therapy is going and how our clinical relationship is developing.

What are your fees? And do you take insurance?

Individual therapy is $215 for a 45-minute session.

Couples & pre-marital therapy is $333 for a 60-minute session.

I am a private pay, out-of-network practice, meaning that therapy clients pay me directly for my services. However, if your insurance plan has out-of-network benefits for mental health services, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for a portion of your therapy costs. It’s important that you check with your insurance company about how your out-of-network benefits work (e.g. how much of each session will your out-of-network benefits cover, what your deductible might be, if you need a pre-authorization, and if there are limits to how many sessions they will cover each year). If you have out-of-network benefits, I will provide you monthly with the necessary documentation of our sessions to file with your insurance company.

What’s the best way to get in touch?

Complete the Contact Me form on this website, email me at jason@inflectionpointstherapy.com, or call at (202) 596-7388. Please be advised that unencrypted email is not considered a secure form of communication. In an effort to protect your privacy, I will limit my email replies to logistical and scheduling information.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 988 immediately, the national mental health crisis line. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency requiring immediate attention, please call 911 or go immediately to a hospital emergency room.

How does online therapy work?

Research shows that therapy conducted online, also known as teletherapy, can be just as effective as therapy conducted in-person. In most ways, the experience of teletherapy is very similar to in-person therapy, though there is an adjustment period if you have only attended therapy in-person in the past. However, online therapy also offers unique benefits over in-person therapy such as no travel time, being in a space you are already familiar with, and general convenience.

As a clinician, I have had years of experience with bridging the digital divide and helping clients through teletherapy. This starts with my use of a teletherapy platform that is secure and HIPAA compliant. Most importantly, I make every effort to provide you with a teletherapy experience that allows the technology to fade into the background as we focus on the important work of therapy.

Finally, please note that for licensure reasons, I can only conduct therapy with clients who are located physically in Washington D.C. or Virginia during our sessions.

What is a Good Faith Estimate of what my course of therapy will cost me?

If you are a self-pay client, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of therapy services. This is something that we will discuss in more detail during our consultation. You can learn more about the No Surprises Act by visiting https://www.cms.gov/NoSurprises
