    THERAPIST

Therapy Style

My approach to working with clients is supportive, collaborative, and integrative. Being supportive means that I approach you with warmth, empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental curiosity about everything you bring into session. As a collaborative therapist, it is also important to me that we bring together my clinical expertise with your lived experience and existing strengths to work through your issues side-by-side. Clinically, I am a integrative therapist who first considers what you need, and then draws from multiple evidence-based therapeutic approaches (e.g. psychodynamic, humanistic, interpersonal, relational cultural, existential, and CBT) to create an individualized therapy that is effective for you. In other words, I believe in trying different approaches until we find the right combination that works for you.

Education, Training, & Licensure

I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park and completed my doctoral internship in health service psychology at the Catholic University of America Counseling Center. I have also trained at Whitman-Walker Behavioral Health, the Maryland Psychotherapy Clinic and Research Lab, and the University of Maryland Counseling Center.

I am currently practicing as a Licensed Psychology Associate in Washington, D.C. (License #PSYA200001429) and Resident in Psychology in Virginia (License #0805002528) under the clinical supervision of Dr. Amy Fuhrmann (DC License #PSY1001663, VA License #0810006278).

Professional Experience

Beyond my experience as a therapist, I have professional experience as an educator, career counselor, and study abroad program manager. In these roles, I have worked extensively with college students and other young adults. I have experience studying career-related topics such as career choice, career development, career self-management, meaning in work, and unemployment coping.
